With a wealth of experience in her field, we asked Claire about her path to Coassemble.
1. You have an extensive background in marketing, what made you passionate about it?
I began my career in fashion, working with international brands. I always loved the concept of brand, and how it evokes connection, loyalty, and ultimately a relationship with the consumer. I find the psychology behind a brand extremely interesting.
In 2006 I championed and was subsequently responsible for launching an e-commerce store for a brand I was working on. I was really excited about the possibilities the online space presented and have been focused on digital ever since.
2. What is one of the biggest misconceptions about working in Marketing?
Many people think that marketing is a relatively simple function. In reality, good marketing has a depth and complexity that is invaluable to the success of a business.
3. So, what inspired you to join Coassemble?
I had worked for a fast-growing company in the fashion industry and loved the pace and agility of working in that environment. Several years of living and working in Dubai with a US digital education company sparked my interest in digital learning and the opportunities it presented. Upon returning to Australia, I worked in financial services but felt somewhat stifled by frequent roadblocks to innovation. When a recruiter contacted me about a growing start-up in the digital learning space, it felt serendipitous!
I met founders Ryan and Jude, it was clear that they were immensely passionate about what they were creating, and their authoring and microlearning solution was really exciting. In many organizations, teams are siloed, yet Ryan and Jude offered true collaboration and the ability to work closely with other teams, having an impact across the entire customer journey. It was an opportunity I didn't want to miss.
4. What’s is one of your proudest moments at Coassemble?
Rebranding from eCoach to Coassemble in January 2019 was a pretty big one for me. It was the first major project I worked on after joining the team, and it had a huge impact. Being passionate about branding, I was very excited to be able to help craft Coassemble into what it is today.
I have to say though I feel proud most days working at Coassemble. The team is incredible—always putting in 110% and cheering each other on. It’s a pretty special place to be.
5. What is something important you have learned since working at Coassemble?
Pivoting is essential! It’s great to have a plan—but in a start-up, pivoting quickly based on the current environment is critical.
6. If you could choose one type of food to eat every day for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
It would have to be cheese 🧀
7. If you could learn to do something really well, what would it be?
To be a really good painter. I love art. I used to travel a lot in a previous role and I would always take the opportunity to go to the art galleries in the countries I was visiting. I think it would be a beautiful talent to possess.
