All Coassemble accounts can export courses via SCORM in both SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 formats to share on an LMS.

How to export a SCORM object

1 — Open the Share modal

Simply click the 'Share' button, located either on the course card within your dashboard or at the top of your screen while inside the course. This will reveal the course share modal.

2 — Navigate to the SCORM tab

By default, the share modal displays the 'Share a link' tab. To access SCORM download options for your course, simply select the 'Share to LMS' tab.

3 — Specify SCORM format

Specify the desired format for exporting the SCORM file. Choose the format from the dropdown menu, offering options for SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004.

You are then presented with two options for SCORM:

  • Dynamic SCORM

  • Standalone SCORM

Dynamic SCORM

Dynamic SCORM keeps your course up-to-date by maintaining a live connection to Coassemble. Any edits you make in Coassemble are automatically reflected for your learners—no need to re-export or re-upload. This option is included on all plans.

Standalone SCORM

Standalone SCORM is exclusively available on our Enterprise plan.

This option allows your course to function independently of Coassemble—ideal for platforms that don’t allow external connections. However, because it’s a static package, any changes you make in Coassemble will not update automatically. You’ll need to re-export and reupload the file to your LMS, HRIS, or other system whenever you want to update the course content.

If you’re on our Enterprise plan, you have the flexibility to choose the SCORM export type that best suits your tech stack and content update workflow.

If you’re on our Free or Team plan, Dynamic SCORM is available—ensuring your course stays up-to-date with no manual reuploading required.

4 — Decide where can your SCORM be shared

Coassemble makes it easy to safeguard your intellectual property. When sharing a dynamic SCORM, you will need to specify the domain(s) of websites you want to allow to host your SCORM packages. If you wish to deactivate the SCORM file, you can also choose to do this. For each course, you can select from these two options:

  1. Only sites I choose (allowlist)

  2. Nowhere (SCORM is disabled)

Choosing 'Only sites I choose (allowlist)' enhances security by allowing exclusive hosting of your SCORM objects on domains listed within the allowlist. If you haven't yet added any domains to your list, click the 'Configure' button to access the settings modal. Here, you can add one or multiple domains to your allowlist. After adding domains, click Save and return to your course.

Select 'Nowhere (SCORM is disabled)' if you want to completely deactivate the SCORM object, rendering it inoperable on any LMS.

Note: Changing these security settings will affect all previously downloaded SCORM objects associated with this course, regardless of the format you've downloaded it in.

5 — Download your SCORM file

Once you've finished configuring your course's SCORM settings click the 'Export SCORM file' button on the bottom of the modal. This will download the SCORM package onto your computer, ready for you to upload into your LMS.
