When creating courses in Coassemble, there are 3 options you can choose from.
Transform a document
Generate using a prompt
Start from scratch
This article covers the 'Start from scratch' method.
Starting from scratch
When you select ‘Start from scratch’, you’ll land straight in the course builder with essentially a blank canvas to start building your course.
You might choose to start from scratch if you have a very clear idea as to how you’re going to build out your course, including what elements you need and the information you’d like to include. Starting from scratch means that you are not using our AI assistant to generate or organize course content for you. For example, if you have a policy document or existing training materials that you’d like to include in the builder word-for-word, we suggest starting from scratch; this allows you to have complete control of the text and none of your content will be summarized or omitted from your course.
How do I start from scratch?
1 — Select your build method
At the top your workspace dashboard, above the list of courses, select the ‘Start from scratch’ build method.
2 — Name your course
After clicking the 'Start from scratch' button, you'll be taken to the course builder, landing on the Start screen. On this screen, click the text where it says 'Course title' to give your course a name.
3 — Change your course theme
Before you start adding screens, you might want to select a course theme that best suits your brand. To change the theme, click the 'Design' button on the toolbar at the top of your screen. Find out more about course themes here.
4 — Add your first screen
You can now begin the work of building out your course with various screens. To add your first screen, click the 'Add screen' button on the left hand menu.
If you have existing training materials, you may want to copy and paste these straight into our screens. You can also use our screens to storyboard your course, leaving space for video content or other missing pieces as you go through the course development process. It’s totally up to you!
