Moving from Articulate Rise
How to bring Articulate Rise 360 courses into Coassemble, what carries across, and when to host a course instead of converting it.
How do I move my Articulate Rise courses into Coassemble?
Export each Rise course as a SCORM package, then upload the package to Coassemble. You can either host the package so it runs exactly as it was built in Rise, or convert it into an editable Coassemble course with your text, images, interactions and quiz questions carried across.
Step 1: Export your course from Rise
In Rise 360, open the course, select Export, choose LMS, select SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 as the format, and download the ZIP file. You don't need the Rise project itself. The SCORM package is enough for both hosting and converting.
Step 2: Decide whether to host or convert
| Host | Convert | |
|---|---|---|
| What happens | The package runs exactly as Rise built it | The content is rebuilt as a Coassemble course made of blocks |
| Design | Original Rise design kept | Takes your Coassemble theme |
| Editing | Not editable in Coassemble | Every screen editable, by you or the AI agent |
| Translation and reuse | Update in Rise and upload again | Translate, restructure and reuse in Coassemble |
| Reporting | Attempts, time spent, success, score and question-level results | The same reporting as any Coassemble course |
| Good for | Approved content that rarely changes | Content you need to update, translate or reuse |
Step 3: Upload the package
To host it: select New course, then Upload SCORM package. The package appears in your library as a course card with a SCORM label once it has finished processing.
To convert it:
- Select Create with agent on your dashboard.
- Upload the SCORM package. Packages up to 1GB can be converted.
- Choose how closely the course follows the original. Verbatim keeps the Rise wording exactly. Structured keeps the content and reshapes the flow. Adaptive treats the package as background material and builds a fuller course.
- Answer any questions the agent asks, then review the course it builds.
What carries across when I convert a Rise course?
Rise is one of the authoring tools Coassemble recognises specifically, so its content is read directly.
| In Rise | In Coassemble |
|---|---|
| Text, headings and lists | Text, headings and lists |
| Images and galleries | Images and galleries |
| Accordion | Accordion |
| Flashcards | Flashcards |
| Process | Process |
| Tabs with two or more panels | Accordion, one item per tab |
| Timeline | Process, one card per entry |
| Labelled graphic | Hotspot, with the image and markers in place (Verbatim or Structured) |
| Knowledge checks and quiz questions | Question blocks with answer options and correct answers |
| YouTube and Vimeo links | YouTube and Vimeo links |
The order of your content and your lesson structure are kept. Anything that can't be converted is listed for you to review after the build.
What doesn't carry across?
- The Rise visual design. A converted course uses your Coassemble theme.
- Labelled graphics converted with Adaptive. The marker text comes across as text, and you can rebuild the interaction with a Hotspot block.
- Learner history. Completions and scores recorded in your current LMS stay there. Reporting in Coassemble starts when people take the course in Coassemble.
If any of these matter for a course, host it instead of converting it.
How should I plan a larger move?
- List your Rise courses and rank them by use. Leave out anything no longer used.
- Decide host or convert for each course. Host approved content that rarely changes. Convert content that is due for an update.
- Move one course first to check the result and set your theme.
- Move the rest in batches, starting with the most-used courses. Each package becomes its own course, and you can group related courses into a collection.
- Keep your LMS running during the move. Coassemble courses can be exported as SCORM to run in your existing LMS, so nothing has to switch over at once.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Rise subscription to move my courses?
You need access to Rise to export the SCORM packages. Once you have the packages, you don't need Rise to host or convert them.
Will my original Rise SCORM package still work?
Yes. Hosting and converting both read a copy of the package. The file you uploaded is unchanged, so it keeps working wherever it already runs.
Can I convert Articulate Storyline courses too?
Yes. Storyline, Adobe Captivate and iSpring packages are also recognised. Storyline branching, triggers and animation aren't rebuilt when you convert, so host Storyline courses that depend on them.
Can I convert several Rise courses at once?
Convert packages one at a time. Each becomes its own course.
