Vimeo
How to put a Vimeo video into a Coassemble course, in either builder.
Yes. Copy the standard Vimeo share link and paste it into a video in your course. It plays inline for your learners, with nothing to re-upload and no embed code needed.
Coassemble has two builders running side by side, and the steps differ slightly depending on which one you're in.
Get the link
In Vimeo, open the video you want, click the Share icon, then Copy link to grab the URL, for example https://vimeo.com/123456789. The standard link is enough.
In the new builder
- In your course, add a Video block to the screen, or start the screen from a layout that already has one.
- In the Add video dialog, open the Paste URL tab and paste your Vimeo link.
Because it's a block, you can size the video on the screen's grid and put text or other blocks alongside it. Set it to landscape or portrait to match how the footage was shot.
The same dialog also has Library (a video already in your workspace), Upload (a file from your device) and Record (a new Loom recording).
In the Classic builder
- Open your course and click Add screen.
- Choose the Video screen type, not Embed.
- Paste your Vimeo link into the video URL field. The video loads in the screen editor straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Do I use video or embed?
Video, in both builders. It's built for video playback and just needs the Vimeo link. Embed is for other kinds of external content.
Do I need embed code from Vimeo?
No. A standard Vimeo share link is all you need.
What about captions?
A Vimeo video carries whatever captions are set on Vimeo itself. Uploading a caption file in Coassemble only applies to video you upload to Coassemble directly.
Can I add a custom thumbnail to a linked Vimeo video?
No. Custom thumbnails are only available for videos uploaded to Coassemble, not for linked videos.
