Usage limits
How Coassemble's usage allowances work, what each one covers, and what happens when you reach one.
Your usage limits are the allowances included with your plan: how many people can take your courses, and how much AI narration and image generation you can use. Open Settings and select Usage limits from the left-hand menu to see how much of each allowance you've used.
What's on the page
Recipients usage shows how many people have taken your courses this period:
- Identified Recipients (IRs)
- Anonymous Recipients (ARs)
AI usage shows how much of your AI allowance you've used this period:
- Narration characters
- Image generations
Each row shows a progress bar with the percentage used. Under each row you'll see a description of that usage and the date the count resets.
How each allowance works
Identified Recipients (IRs)
An Identified Recipient is anyone who takes one of your courses with an identifier attached: an email address captured at the point of access, or a unique identifier passed through if you deliver Coassemble inside your own product or platform. IRs are counted per workspace. Each unique person counts as one IR for the period, regardless of how many courses they take.
Anonymous Recipients (ARs)
An Anonymous Recipient is anyone who takes one of your courses without an identifier attached. ARs are counted per course session rather than per person: each course someone starts without an identifier counts as one AR, so one person who takes two courses anonymously counts as two ARs, as does one person opening a course in two browsers.
Narration characters
One narration character is one character of AI-generated narration, counted when it's generated, used across Voice screens and AI course generation. Standard and premium voices draw from the same pool.
AI image generation events
One image generation event is one image generation. Each generation gives you a set of pictures to choose from, and the event is counted when you generate, whether or not you keep any of them. You'll see how many events you have left in the generation window.
What happens when you reach an AI allowance
On current paid plans, AI allowances are soft capped. If your narration or AI image generation usage grows past your allowance, going over doesn't block generation and is never charged. Everything in your workspace keeps working: courses stay live, learners keep taking them, and you can keep building, editing and generating.
If you go past an allowance partway through a piece of work, nothing is interrupted. You can keep generating, writing and publishing.
On Sandbox, AI allowances are a one-time hard limit, so generation stops when you reach it.
What happens when you reach a recipient allowance
On current paid plans, recipient allowances are soft capped too. Going past your IR or AR allowance doesn't block access to your courses, and it's never charged. On Sandbox, recipient allowances are a one-time hard limit, so access stops when you reach it.
When allowances reset
On current paid plans, AI allowances and recipient allowances are yearly pools. They reset once a year on your subscription start date, not on the first of the month. Unused narration characters and image generation events don't carry over. The exact reset date for your account is shown in each row on the Usage limits page.
On Sandbox, allowances are one-time and never reset.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Usage limits page show data for the whole workspace or just my activity?
The whole workspace. Allowances are pooled across all creators in a workspace.
Will I be notified when I reach a limit?
You can track your usage at any time on the Usage limits page, and your AI usage in the generation window too. On current paid plans, going past an allowance doesn't stop anything. On Sandbox, usage stops when you reach the limit.
I'm on an older plan and the allowances don't seem to apply to me.
Some accounts were set up with unlimited Identified Recipients, Anonymous Recipients, narration characters, or image generation events as part of their agreement, and some older plans have different allowances and notification rules. If that applies to you, your account manager can confirm exactly what's set on your account.
