Usage limits

How Coassemble's usage allowances work, what each one covers, and what happens when you reach one.

Your usage limits are the allowances included with your plan: how many people can take your courses, and how much AI narration and image generation you can use. Open Settings and select Usage limits from the left-hand menu to see how much of each allowance you've used.

What's on the page

Recipients usage shows how many people have taken your courses this period:

  • Identified Recipients (IRs)
  • Anonymous Recipients (ARs)

AI usage shows how much of your AI allowance you've used this period:

  • Narration tokens
  • AI image generation events

Each row shows a progress bar with the percentage used. Click into any row to see a description of that usage event and the date the count resets.

How each allowance works

Identified Recipients (IRs)

An Identified Recipient is anyone who takes one of your courses with an identifier attached: an email address captured at the point of access, or a unique identifier passed through if you deliver Coassemble inside your own product or platform. IRs are counted per workspace. Each unique person counts as one IR for the period, regardless of how many courses they take.

Anonymous Recipients (ARs)

An Anonymous Recipient is anyone who takes one of your courses without an identifier attached. ARs are tracked at the device and session level (a combination of browser cookie and device profile), so uniqueness is approximate: one person across two browsers will count as two ARs, and two people sharing one browser may count as one AR.

Narration tokens

One narration token equals one character of AI-generated narration, used across Voice screens and AI course generation. Standard and premium voices draw from the same monthly pool.

AI image generation events

One image generation event equals four pictures generated. When you generate an image, Coassemble produces four options for you to choose from: selecting one uses one event. You'll see how many events you have left in the generation window.

What happens when you reach an AI allowance

AI allowances are hard capped. When your narration tokens or AI image generation events reach 100%, generation stops for the rest of the month and starts again when the allowance resets. There's no overage charge. Everything else in your workspace keeps working: courses stay live, learners keep taking them, and you can keep building and editing.

If you hit the cap partway through a piece of work, you can still write and publish the course. Only the AI generation itself pauses.

What happens when you reach a recipient allowance

If you reach your IR or AR allowance, we'll reach out for a conversation about sizing your plan to match how you're using Coassemble. Nothing is billed automatically.

When allowances reset

AI allowances reset on the first of each month, whether you're billed monthly or annually. Unused narration tokens and image generation events don't carry over.

Recipient allowances follow your subscription period rather than the calendar month. The exact reset date for your account is shown in each row on the Usage limits page.

For what's included with each plan, see coassemble.com/pricing.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Usage limits page show data for the whole workspace or just my activity?

The whole workspace. Allowances are pooled across all creators in a workspace.

Will I be notified when I reach a limit?

For AI allowances, you'll see the counter hit zero in the generation window. For recipient allowances, we'll reach out if you go past your allowance.

I'm on an older plan and the allowances don't seem to apply to me.

Some accounts were set up with unlimited Identified Recipients, Anonymous Recipients, narration tokens, or image generation events as part of their agreement, and some older plans have different allowances and notification rules. If that applies to you, your account manager can confirm exactly what's set on your account.
