Cloud storage

Connecting cloud storage so you can pull documents into Coassemble without downloading and re-uploading them.

Connect your Google Drive or OneDrive account once, then browse and pick files from inside Coassemble whenever you're turning a document into a course. There's no downloading and re-uploading.

Connect and select a file

  1. From your dashboard, start a course from a document.
  2. When prompted to upload, choose Google Drive or OneDrive instead of uploading from your device.
  3. In the pop-up, sign in to your Google or Microsoft account and authorise the connection. If you've connected before you won't need to reauthorise, just select your drive.
  4. Browse your drive, find the document, and select it.

Coassemble uploads the file and starts turning it into a course, ready for you to review and edit.

The connection belongs to your account rather than to one course, so once it's authorised it's available the next time you pick a document.

If you have trouble connecting

Check that:

  • Pop-ups are enabled in your browser, since the sign-in opens in a pop-up window.
  • You're using the correct account credentials.
  • Your file is a supported format: PDF, Word (.doc, .docx), PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx), text (.txt) or rich text (.rtf).

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to download files to use them?

No. Connect Google Drive or OneDrive and pull documents straight in.

Do I need to reconnect every time?

No. Once you've authorised your account, you just select your drive each time.

Which file types can I pull from cloud storage?

PDF, Word, PowerPoint, text and rich text. These are the formats supported for turning a document into a course.

What about SCORM packages?

SCORM packages come in through their own route rather than the document flow, because a SCORM package isn't a document to be summarised. You either host the package in Coassemble as it is, or convert it into an editable Coassemble course.

Does this work in both builders?

Yes. The cloud storage connection is on your account, so it applies wherever you pick a source document, whichever builder the resulting course opens in.
