Edit with AI
The two ways to change wording with AI: the Refine menu on selected text, and asking the agent in conversation.
Highlight any text and use Refine to improve the writing, change the tone, or make it shorter or longer. You see the result instantly and can keep it or undo it, so nothing changes without your say-so.
Refine is available on all current plans, but not on the legacy Flow and Hub plans.
Refine selected text
- While editing, select the text you want to change. In the new builder, that's text inside a heading or paragraph block. In Classic, it's text in a text box.
- Select Refine.
- Choose one of the four options below.
- Review the result, then select Keep to apply it or Undo to go back to your original.
The four Refine options
- Improve writing: sharpens clarity and readability for an online learning audience, fixes grammar, spelling and punctuation, and keeps roughly the same length.
- Change tone: rewrites in one of three tones, Informal & Conversational, Academic & Research-Based, or Motivational & Persuasive.
- Make shorter: condenses the text by about 30 to 50% while keeping the key points.
- Make longer: expands the text by about 50 to 100%, adding relevant detail, examples or context.
Ask the agent instead
Refine gives you four fixed options on one piece of text. When you want something the four don't cover, or you want it applied more broadly, ask the AI agent in Chat instead. It can rewrite a screen, adjust the tone across a whole course, or make a change you describe in your own words rather than picking from a menu.
Use Refine for a quick pass on a paragraph you're looking at. Use the agent when the change is bigger than the text you have selected.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a change?
Yes. After each refine you can select Keep to apply it or Undo to restore your original text, so you're always in control.
Can I refine the same text more than once?
Yes. Refine a section as many times as you like, adjusting tone, length or clarity until it feels right.
What tones can I choose from the menu?
Informal & Conversational, Academic & Research-Based, and Motivational & Persuasive. If you want a tone outside those three, describe it to the agent in Chat.
Does Refine work on every kind of block?
Refine works on text. Headings and paragraphs are where it applies, including text you've typed into interactive blocks like accordions and checklists.
