AI overview
What Coassemble's built-in AI can build, review and edit, and how a connected AI assistant fits alongside it.
Coassemble's AI is an agent that sits with you in the course builder. It builds courses, sections, screens and blocks from what you give it, reviews the course you've made, reads how learners are going, and edits your wording, images and narration on request. You stay in control of all of it.
The in-builder agent is available on all current plans, but not on the legacy Flow and Hub plans.
The agent in the builder
The agent panel has three tabs:
- Chat: where you ask for things. Describe what you want and it builds or changes it, whether that's a whole course, one section, a single screen, or one block on a screen. A Suggestions menu offers starting points like generating a screen, a knowledge check, flashcards or a quiz, and picking one writes the prompt into the box so you can adjust it before sending.
- Review: expert feedback on the course you've built, covering instructional quality, engagement and accessibility. Each finding is specific and links to the screen it refers to. This is what Coassemble calls Course Coach, though that name doesn't appear in the builder.
- Insights: reads your course analytics, so you can ask where learners are dropping off or which questions are being failed, and fix the screen in the same conversation. Nothing shows here until a few learners have been through the course.
What the AI can do
- Build a course from a prompt, a document, a presentation, or a SCORM package, as screens grouped into sections.
- Follow your source as closely as you want. With a single document or SCORM package you choose Verbatim (your wording exactly), Structured (reorganised into a learning flow) or Adaptive (rewritten and expanded).
- Generate part of a course: a block, a screen, several screens, or a whole section.
- Edit your wording by refining and rewriting text, including on one block at a time.
- Generate images from a description, taking the topic of the course into account.
- Create narration, an AI voiceover generated from your course text.
- Apply your brand voice so AI-written content matches your tone and style.
- Work in your language. The builder is localised in eleven languages, and the agent answers in whichever one you write to it in.
You stay in control
The level of AI is always your call. Use it to go from a blank page to a full first draft in minutes, lean on it for just the parts you want help with, or build screen by screen yourself. Everything the AI produces is fully editable.
Work through your own AI assistant
You can also connect an AI assistant such as Claude to your workspace over MCP (the Model Context Protocol) and have it build for you. Create a connection in your Settings, add the connection URL to your assistant, and sign in once to authorise it. From then on the assistant can create courses, edit content screen by screen, restructure and organise, publish and share, and read your course analytics, using over 50 tools.
Course generation still runs on Coassemble's own AI, so a course built through your assistant behaves the same as one you build in the app.
Drive the agent from your own product
If you deliver Coassemble inside your own application, your product can drive the same agent over MCP or REST, so your users get the agent experience without leaving your product. Your backend mints an agent token from your workspace API key, and you can pin that token to a single course, choose which tools it may use, or make it read-only.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use AI to build a course?
No. AI is there to speed things up, but you can build a course entirely by hand if you prefer.
Can I edit what the AI generates?
Yes. Everything AI produces, course content, screens, quizzes, images, and narration, is fully editable.
What can the AI build a course from?
A prompt you write, or content you already have: a document, a presentation, or a SCORM package.
Can I keep my wording exactly as written?
Yes. Choose Verbatim when the agent asks how closely to follow your source.
Does connecting my own AI assistant change the courses it builds?
No. Your assistant decides what to ask for and calls the right tools, but the generation runs on Coassemble's AI, so the result is the same either way.
